The Musical Experience for Special Minds Dream:
We would like to expand the activities available for the children in the outdoor space. With all their running and jumping we need different outlets for their creativity. Musical instruments would be a wonderful addition to our outdoor space. Having musical instruments in outdoor spaces can enhance their creative learning experiences. In the classroom, music has been beneficial for our children with special needs. Music Therapy works as a creative, flexible and sometimes spontaneous means of utilizing the appeal of music to help people of all ages and abilities. Music sets a social context by setting up a safe, structured setting for verbal and nonverbal communication. Music is an effective memory aid, it supports and encourages movement and taps into memories and emotions. We would love the opportunity to purchase some for our outside area for exploration and engagement for our children.

In addition to the musical experience, with spring approaching beautiful weather comes along, our big dream is to have non-slippery flooring for our outside playhouse. We currently have a wonderful playhouse that is sitting on top of dirt and pieces of grass. When it rains, snows, or cold weather, it becomes unsafe for our children. At times we close the playhouse since the dirt turns into slippery mud. We would love to request help with getting an artificial turf surface to allow our kiddos to play in a safe and fun environment. Spending time outside is very important for their development as it helps develop stronger motor skills, social skills, and cognitive skills. Our dream is to make an environment for them to feel safe and secure to explore and learn.
