Magnetic toys are wonderful tools that help children nurture STEM skills and learning. By creating a space of creation with magnetic toys, we hope to engage children’s STEM skills while nurturing their imaginations. Magnetic path-building pieces will help children build, test, and reconfigure a variety of pathways. Magnetic tracks will let children build their own roller coasters with idea cards or through their own trial and error as they position tracks differently to roll a disk from the top to the goal box. Children will also have access to gears that they can fit together to create their own spectacular, spinning shows!

When magnetic toys are used for STEM learning they not only entertain children, but also stimulate ideas of construction, critical thinking, and problem solving. Many magnetic toys also help children to master fine motor skills while fostering creativity. We’ve been slowly creating more interactive science centers in each of our Two’s and Preschool classes, and a magnetic learning space would be the next step in our creation process.
