St. Paul is dreaming of replacing its carpet. The current carpet is worn out in light of years of high-foot traffic, Chicago winters, and – unflattering but true – the occasional upset stomach. St. Paul is in dire need of facility upgrades. New carpeting would be an excellent start. First impressions are crucial, particularly for under-enrolled schools. Parents, students, faculty, staff, visitors, and prospective students and their families are first greeted by the school’s tattered carpet. While quality of instruction is of the utmost importance, it is also important that the building itself appear well maintained, reflecting investment in the school and its future.

While the provision of remote learning is essential and timely, the schools will reopen; it would be wonderful if our students and their families were able to return to a welcoming space indicative of a fresh start.
