Walther has a wonderful music program that includes bands, choirs, and general music classes. As the teacher of the general music classes, I know that there has been a pretty big student interest in having a guitar class. My proposal is for 10 classroom guitars and 2 guitar racks that house 5 guitars each so that we can start a semester long class that could include 10 students per class. The total would be $1,946.81 for the ten guitars, 10 soft cases, and 2 guitar racks, and an assortment of guitar picks.

I think this class would fulfill a great desire that the students have at Walther. So many students wish to play an instrument, but are not interesting in being in a classroom band. We also have a Praise Band at Walther, and currently, we do not have a practical way to feed into who plays in the Praise Band unless the students learn those instruments on their own outside of school. Many students have shown interest in learning to play the guitar and this class would be a great new addition to what we can offer our students in order to give them an even more well-rounded, choice-based, high school experience.
