Expand Our Minds With Non-Fiction Books (#202)

The non-fiction section in our school library is currently out of date. There are insufficient books for the programs at our school. Our library needs to support the innovative education programs provided to our students in the classroom. Both students and teachers have been disappointed when they come to the library to conduct research as they are unable to find books on their topic. The librarians at St James will work closely with our teachers to stock the library with non-fiction books that support the writing and research programs at our school. Topics of particular need include, but are not limited to, biographies, presidents, animals and artists.

St. James Lutheran School has many innovative research projects for our children. For example, each year 3rd and 4th graders participate in a “Wax Museum” during which they take on the persona of a historical figure they have researched. Sadly, our library does not have the books for their research. Updating our library will enhance the Wax Museum research project and others like it at our school by providing the raw materials for our students to conduct their research.
